Shri Neh Nagridas - Rasik Saint of Braj

Shri Neh Nagri Das Ji was born in around 1590 and he lived through the middle of the 17th century. He took initiation from Shri Van Chandra Goswami elder son of Shri Hit Harivsh Mahaprabhu. He gave his own introduction in his writings:

"सुन्दर श्री बरसानो निवास और बास बसों श्री वृन्दावन धाम है।
देवी हमारे श्री राधिका नागरी गोत सौं श्री हरिवंश नाम है।।
देव हमारे श्रीराधिकावल्लभ रसिक अनन्य सभा विश्राम है।
नाम है नागरीदासि अली वृषभान लली की गली को गुलाम है।।”

It writes as Nagri Das Ji was such a slave of Vrishbhanu Lali Radha’s street that he did not like to go to the any other street. Due to such strong allegiance in Radha and Shri Hit Harivansh, He has also described the importance of Barsana Dham as well.

For some time He stayed in Vrindavan because He used to remain in "Bhava Avastha" in Vrindavan due to which he did not pay attention to his conduct. Being simple and naive, He started doing such conduct which many people protested against and he left Vrindavan and came to Barsana.

Nagri Das Ji was the exclusive devotee of Radharani. Nagri Das Ji made his cottage in the Gehavar van forest, which is also famous as the “Mor Kuti” peacock cottage. On one day, Shri Radha Rani with the Ashtashikhees appeared to her cottage. Nagri Das Ji fell unconscious after watching the divine form of Kishori Ji. In that state, Shri Radha said to them, "We constantly play here, we are hungry in the middle of the night. Is it possible for you to prepare some food for us at this time?". He has written the same thing in his pads:

"भूखे हैं हम आधी रैन, या बिरियाँ स्वबावै तब चैन”

Nagri Das Ji, with great joy, gave food to Shri Radha at that time and from that day, he started preparing "Kheer" and “Pudhis” for Radharani and Sakhis at midnight. Nagari Das Ji has praised Radha Krishna through his voice and pads.
